campaign idea - matrix [Jan. 31st, 2011|03:39 pm]

Theres a new crimnal broadcast going around, someoneis sucking in deckers into a twisted game show of sorts pitting them agenst state of the art ( and sometimes greater then ) counter insurgance measures and virises. The reward - they get to live if the win. The game is set up by a twisted tecknomancer called the gamemaster. So far no one has beaten the game. Deckers are being found fried threw out the U.C.A.S., Seatle, and Calforna free state - posibly elsewere ( depending on the teams location and range for aquiring streat rumors )

The gamemaster is tuned to the anti-resonance and is compleatly psychtic. Stat.'s not yet avalable.

Okay a few queries/comments:

How can he get better than state-of-the-art things? That's better than the best possible.

What do you mean by "counter insurgance measures"? Would the deckers be being treated as insurgents by governments and corporations as part of what's going on?

Anti-Resonance would be Dissonance, if that helps at all.

Certainly sounds like an interesting concept to flesh out, if you were wanting to run a decker-heavy game.

State of the art is the best on the market, better then would be the next generation that is in development or "has not been released to market". Things no one should have but oftain get anyway.
Counter insurgance is a measure taken to prevent incursion into the system. This is every thing from a basic firewall to black ice when refranceing the matrix.
They could be pitted agenst mega corps, world goverments or even other deckers.
The main thing is that they get diverted into a VR setting were they are forced to hack their way out with potentaly lethal consiquences if they fail. If they escape they win their life - if not they ether remain trapped in the VR world with their body in a coma till it dies or end up brain fried.

Ah, right. Intrusion countermeasures. With you now. (Counterinsurgency techniques tend to involve dealing with rebellions and such, rather than people trying to get into something.)

So, cutting edge (released top of the line) vs bleeding edge (stuff in development).

How are they getting sucked into the game? Is it just mundane deckers or also other technomancers? If not, why not? Is the game targeting people with a level of competency with decking or is anyone who has a data-jack and a com-link fair game? (Sorry about the pun.)
